Winter Is Coming To Bend: Prepare Your Home The leaves are turning color and starting to fall to the ground in Central Oregon. In a couple of months winter will arrive. Here is my list of things to do to your home before winter hits. 1) Put your foundation vent covers on, and check foundation for cracks and leaks. 2) Turn your sprinkler system off and have it blown out by a professional. 3) Check and clean all heating systems, including wood burning stoves, wall heaters, baseboard heaters, pellet stoves, and furnaces. 4) Clean out your rain gutters. Debris is collecting in your gutters this fall. Keep your gutters clean so winter rain and snow can drain. 5) Check all exterior doors and windows for damaged seals, cracks, and other leaks. 6) Check all smoke and carbon monoxide detectors to insure that they are in working order. 7) Make sure you have enough insulation in your attic, walls, and floors. 8) Patio furniture, lawn equipment, and any thing else that lives outdoors for the summer should be stored inside or covered. Bend Home Sales Report STICK-BUILT HOMES IN BEND As of 9/29/08, on the Central Oregon MLS there were 1,968 stick-built residential properties available in the Bend area, and 169 homes were pending sale. Over the past 12 months 1,238 homes have sold in the Bend area. That’s an average of 103 a month. At that pace, we have about 19 months of inventory in the Bend area.
