While on HUD's web page I saw an interesting page about HUD offering local communites homes at $1.  Basically when HUD forecloses on a home, they put the home on the market for sale.  If the home doesn't sell in six months, HUD offers the home to the local community for $1.  The local government can then fix up the home and sell it at an affordable price to a family in need.  Visit HUD'ssite for more information.
