Video Tours of Homes For Sale

I recently upgraded my old Canon 30D DSLR Camera to the new Canon 60D that will also shoot in video mode.  The reason for my upgrade was simple, real estate video.  In the Internet age, everyone wants as much information as possible with the click of a mouse.  This includes home buyers wanting to see video home tours online.  Not many agents in Bend are offering real estate video services as part of their listing agreement, so I wanted to jump right in and learn as much as possible about the video capabilities of my new 60D.  Let me tell you... It's a learning curve.  I consider myself a good photographer, but that doesn't mean that you can jump right into shooting video.

I did some online studying and made a few gadgets, including a Silver Flyer Steadicam. Then I was off to do some testing.  First things first, I tried to get my new Steadicam to balance correctly.  This took hours longer than it should have!  And I still need some work.  But overall I'm starting to see some good results while flying it.

First real estate video shoot

This is my first real estate video shoot of a log home in Bend.  I've learned some tricks of the trade since this shoot, and will be going back to shoot this again in the spring when we have some sunny warm days.  It will be interesting to see how much my video skills have improved.  The video panning is a bit "skippy", which I have already resolved for future shoots. 

Video is the wave of the future for real estate

Be sure your real estate agent is using video, along with professional photographs to market your home.  Video is the future of real estate.  Home buyers love video.  Now that I've got some practice under my belt, I'm going to start getting creative with home tours.  Look for more video to be posted on my site and blog soon.
